Selects by Cutback

Selects tackles the first hours of editing: ingest, sync, organization, finding quotes, and assembling a rough cut. Its value is in handing an editor a usable starting point rather than pretending the final creative decision is automatic. The product supports transcript and scene search, chat-driven draft changes, and export to the major professional NLEs.

For a fair test, import a representative project with separate audio, multiple cameras, and a specific brief. Check sync accuracy, whether the selected moments actually support the story, and how cleanly the handoff opens in your editor. Its source page describes non-destructive project files, but you should still inspect an export before changing your production pipeline.

Best for: editors processing substantial raw footage. See the official Selects overview and handoff guide.
