Notion AI is built into Notion’s documents, databases, projects, and knowledge base. It can answer questions about workspace content, draft or revise a page, summarize material, autofill database properties, produce meeting notes, research across connected sources, and complete multi-step tasks through Notion Agent. Its advantage is context: the assistant works where the team’s pages and projects already live.
Free and Plus workspaces receive limited trials of AI features. Ongoing access to the main Notion AI workspace features is included with Business and Enterprise plans rather than sold as the old standalone add-on. Business pricing varies by billing currency and schedule, and custom agents can use separate Notion credits. Teams should review permissions, connected apps, transcript retention, and the current AI data terms before rolling it across a company.
Musthave review
Notion AI becomes useful when the answer already exists somewhere in the workspace but nobody remembers the page. It can search across company notes, summarize a project history, turn a meeting into actions, and draft inside the document that will hold the final work. That is a clearer advantage than adding another empty chat window to the team.
It also exposes messy operations. If three pages disagree about the refund policy and none has an owner or date, the assistant cannot decide which one is true. Notion AI rewards a maintained knowledge base and makes an abandoned one more confidently confusing.
Notion’s AI help center covers writing, workspace questions, database assistance, meeting notes, Enterprise Search, Research, and agent features. The assistant can use material a person is allowed to access, which is more practical than manually pasting a long page into a separate tool.
A good first use is a bounded workspace question: “What did we decide about the launch date, and which pages support the answer?” The source links matter. Open them, check that the decision is still current, and update the original page when it is not. The assistant should help repair the knowledge system, not become a layer that hides it.
Writing tools are convenient for turning notes into a brief, shortening a page, changing tone, or extracting tasks. Keep the result in the original document so collaborators can edit it and the next search sees the corrected version.
AI Meeting Notes can transcribe a conversation, summarize it, and pull out follow-ups. This is useful when nobody wants to be the secretary. It requires a policy: tell participants, respect consent rules, limit access, correct names and decisions, and decide when raw transcripts should be deleted.
Notion Agent goes beyond drafting by completing multi-step work with workspace, connected-app, and web context. Start with reversible jobs: preparing a status brief, finding missing owners, or creating a first-pass project page. Do not begin with an agent that changes critical records across a poorly governed workspace.
Connected apps make answers richer and expand the data surface. Grant only the connectors a workflow needs, test with an ordinary user rather than an all-access owner, and verify that permissions behave as expected.
Notion’s current pricing page gives Free and Plus users a limited trial of AI capabilities. Business includes Notion Agent, AI Meeting Notes, Enterprise Search, Research, and stronger workspace controls. Enterprise adds features such as zero data retention with model providers and advanced administration.
Prices depend on currency, region, and billing choice. When checked, the page displayed Business at €19.50 per member per month in the selected European view and described yearly savings. The key purchasing fact is the bundle, not that regional number: continuous core AI access now sits with Business and Enterprise rather than the old standalone AI add-on. Custom Agents use separate Notion credits after trial usage.
For one person who only wants occasional rewriting, moving an entire workspace to Business is difficult to justify. For a team already paying to centralize knowledge and projects, the calculation is whether search, meeting notes, and agents remove enough repeated work across every paid seat.
Notion states on its pricing and privacy materials that customer data is not used to train its models unless the customer opts in to a request to share it. It also states that information needed to provide AI features is shared with contracted AI subprocessors, and retention terms differ by plan.
Those commitments do not replace internal controls. Review what belongs in Notion, who can reach it, which connectors are enabled, and how meeting transcripts are retained. Enterprise buyers should verify the exact contractual protections rather than assuming the consumer help page is their agreement.
The trial should leave the workspace cleaner. If it only creates more unowned pages, it is adding noise.
Notion AI is a strong fit for teams that already treat Notion as a working knowledge system. Search, meeting notes, and in-place drafting solve real coordination problems, and agent features can extend that value when permissions and source pages are healthy.
It is a weak reason to adopt Notion from scratch, and the Business-plan bundle is expensive for casual individual use. Fix the workspace first, test with known answers, and buy the AI capability for repeat operations rather than novelty.
